About
Simon began his career in journalism nearly three decades ago in Hanoi, after a brief and unsuccessful attempt at joining the student newspaper—his story idea was stolen, no word of a lie (and not for the last time).
Photography has been a passion since childhood. At the age of 13, Simon and his best friend attended a week-long photography course during the holidays. They explored the darkroom, experimented with portraits, and captured street life around Richmond College in South West London. The process sparked his imagination, and he’s been hooked ever since.
After university, Simon travelled to Vietnam to teach English and worked for English-language publications such as Vietnam News and Vietnam Investment Review. Vietnam, with its vibrant street life and culture, proved to be an incredible place to roam and capture images of people and their stories.
Upon returning to England, Simon worked for various business trade papers, occasionally selling snaps and stories to newspapers, including a striking shot of an overturned police car that made it into the Evening Standard.
